Gorgeous Mosaic Art For Your Swimming Pool

(4 min read) In our article from last week, we briefly touched on swimming pool mosaic art and why it remains popular — throughout the centuries. Yup, you read that correctly — centuries. The first mosaic was found in a Mesopotamian temple dating back to the 3rd millennium BC. The fact that this piece of intricate art managed to maintain its beauty for so long is an astonishing fact on its own and it speaks of the incredible durability and resilience of the mosaic art.

Keeping all of the above in mind, it is no wonder that the later cultures used mosaic artwork to create their swimming pools and hammams. Seashells, ivory, and stones slowly tuned into marble, ceramic, and glass, so today we are witnessing the peak of the mosaic artwork from all standpoints. Designs go from charming arabesque patterns to mind-bogglingly realistic cartoonish motifs, and materials are so various that you are often unable to determine what type of tile you are looking at. From vitreous metallic and Van Gogh glass mosaic to dark-hued anti-slip tiles, swimming pool mosaic artwork has evolved magnificently, but managed to remain the same at its core.

When it comes to materials for mosaic swimming pool artwork ceramic/porcelain and glass tiles are most frequently used. Both have their advantages, but ultimately you will choose your preference based on the effect you are trying to achieve with your pool.

Ceramic tiles are covered with a high-quality layer of efficient glaze, which makes them alkali and acid-resistant. That means that you don’t have to be afraid that the color of your marvelous design will fade or get stained. Ceramic also goes through high-temperature firing, which gives it a vitrified finish, making the tiles virtually unbreakable.

Glass mosaic tiles come in a huge variety of colors, so you will have endless choices when opting for your mosaic artwork design and its intricacy. Glass tiles will also allow you to have unlimited choices when it comes to the tile chip size, so creating a vivid pattern is effortless. Furthermore, glass tiles swimming pool mosaic artwork is always even and smooth, which makes the cleaning swift and easy.

When it comes to themes, you can really let your imagination run free because whatever you go for, you can be 100% sure that whatever you choose your pool will end up looking unique and amazing. That’s the biggest advantage of the mosaic pools. They are never just swimming pools, they are pieces of art. So whether you go for a bright-colored coral reef motif on the sides or a family of loggerhead turtles swimming across your pool, you won’t do wrong.
