Mosaic art is the most environmentally friendly decor of all
(4 min read) Over the last two decades, the push for us to be more environmentally conscious has started to grow rapidly and with a good reason. We have put our beloved planet to the test and it is no longer what it once was. The weather is constantly going through extreme changes, numerous animal species are on the verge of extinction, and the overall pollution of the environment is creating a multitude of problems. In that kind of climate (pun intended) it is no wonder that people, communities, and businesses are trying to be environmentally friendly.

At this point you are probably wondering how we fit into this particular picture and narrative, so let me serve you a piece of the explanatory-not-so-humble pie (I know, #cringe, but I couldn’t resist). Let’s say you want to decorate your wall. You have many options, the most popular of which is paint. The environmental impact of paint can be considerable, especially if you are going for the traditional most frequently used paints. These paints often contain very high quantities of volatile organic compounds that are emitted into the atmosphere and which have adverse health effects.

One of the most popular decorating options is also wallpapers. Flowery, geometric, scenic, colorful, neutral, gorgeous wallpapers…that are stuck to your wall using some liquid adhesive that can potentially turn into hazardous waste. Those shiny, lime green wallpapers don’t look that good anymore, do they? It is also worth mentioning that both of these wall decors will have to be renewed or changed every year or two, so you can take all of those pollutive effects and multiply them by two or three.

So how do we remedy this? What type of décor causes the least damage to the environment and lasts virtually forever? Mosaic artwork. Nothing will inspire awe and admiration quite like a large scale mosaic artwork on your wall. You won’t have to use tons of glue to piece it together and once it is on your wall it will stay there forever- A magnificent piece of low maintenance art.

You won’t have to use any type of chemicals to clean your mosaic artwork and you won’t have to worry about it deteriorating or damaging, because there is no art as sturdy and as durable as mosaic art.

You also won’t have to worry about your mosaic design becoming outdated because the mosaic will always look posh and stylish. Its intricate beauty will always grab the attention of your visitors, regardless of its theme.
All of these things are what make mosaic art eco-friendly and, in this day and age, being good for the environment is of utmost importance.

Honorable mentions (tiny things that could mean a lot):
- Carpool to work
- Use reusable straws and bottles
- Make some garden compost from your food scraps
- Plant a tree
- Recycle, recycle and recycle
- Educate yourself, your family, and friends

I can see this! I mean, it’s gorgeous and you use recycled bits, so it’s perfect.

So I do all of the other things on your list, but I never thought about how eco-friendly a mosaic would be. It’s a great option for decor, especially if you can make it by reusing things.

One more thing I’ve learned about mozaics. I never thought about it as an environmental answer for decor.

I love mosaics and that they are so eco-friendly. I really hope to create one of my own one day in a garden or in the bathroom when we get a house. We do what we can to stay green. Especially by using reusable straws and water bottles.

These pieces are so unique and I love this eco – art. The birds on and around the tree (and the way the light) fits in with it and all the decoration around the window looks really cool.
Using products that are eco-friendly is very important to me but I never thought that the materials such as paint can contain unhealthy substance. Thank you for highlighting that mosaics are safe and we should look at having them instead on our walls.
Wow these are all very cool for sure, I must say that I am loving the Elvis one x

If this is the case, I’d opt collecting these decors instead!
This artist is always ready to read your posts and this is no exception. The shimmer and tactile quality of mosaics is enough to give praise, but let me add that the environmental aspect is something that I would not have considered. Sustainable and Beautiful. What more could you ask of art.
The use of discarded or offcut materials for creating art has always fascinated me. It’s one thing to enjoy a piece of art, but it’s more enjoyable when you know it has a low impact on the environment.
The mosaics are beautiful and great for the environment – win win!
That outdoor window decor is my absolute favorite. What an awesome beauty to behold!
