Make 2024 Stylishly Eco-friendly Starting With Your Bathroom
(5 min read) New years should be all about new resolutions and fresh beginnings. Most of us are already considering redesigns and renovations, so our home fits our new mindset. However, as much as I’m all for embracing positive changes, there are some glorious trends we implemented in 2023, that just shouldn’t be touched. One of those are gorgeous, sustainable, eco-friendly bathrooms.
According to design experts, this year will be all about infusing various modern design elements into the environmentally-conscious bathrooms we created last year. The goal is to maintain natural and sustainable features, with a special focus on the homeowner’s personality. If you’ve recently remodeled your bathroom, all you have to do is incorporate some of the designer-approved trends we’ll chat about here and your aesthetic will be on point and luxury-retreat worthy.
Glass, glass, glass
Whether you are doing a complete renovation this year, or just planning on adding some trendy, but eco-friendly features, glass tiles are a must. They will provide you with an eco-chic solution without compromising on style and beauty. Glass tiles are made of recycled glass materials such as bottles and mirrors, so they are perfect for those seeking an environmentally responsible choice while still keeping up with contemporary designs.
This year will be all about textured looks and playfulness, so mosaic glass tiles and mosaic designs will be all the rage. Whether you decide to go for some frolicky, geon+metric patterns, or full-on nature scenes, your mosaic backsplash and mosaic floor will speak of both your impeccable sense of style and green outlook on space and life.
Textured Accents Are Making A Splash
Bold, veiny (*it’s not my fault your mind is dirty…) stone accents will be even stronger this year. That doesn’t mean you have to fully renovate your bathroom furnishings. It simply means that if you opt to add some natural stone cups and holders, or marble trays and trash cans, you will be taking a step in the right direction. It’s not difficult to stay trendy and elegant if you have the proper, sustainable materials in mind.
Faucets With A Heart Of Gold
The years have just begun, but everyone is already talking about smart toilets and quartz showers. As much as that sounds fun and dandy, not all of us have tens of thousands of dollars to invest in some new, tech-savvy bathroom gallantry, regardless of how eco-friendly it may be. On that note, we can do something about our bathroom faucets and nozzles. There is currently a wide array of gorgeously designed water-saving faucets on the market and none of them are nearly as expensive as that futuristic toilet or some other arduous, mambo-jambo bathroom accessories. These chic and inconspicuous faucets will look stunning in any bathroom, all while conserving water and being sustainable af. (*by “af” I mean “as friendship” because true friendship is sustainable… stop side-eyeing me!)
Bamboo This, Bamboo That… Kung Fu Panda Knows What It’s All About
Bamboo can be grown pretty quickly and with ease, which makes it the best pick for a sustainable material in its raw form. As a plant, bamboo is biodegradable and requires minimal water and pesticides. It is ideal for bathrooms because it is water-resistant and highly durable. So if you are thinking of changing your vanities this year go for bamboo vanities that will look gorgeous with any tiles. If you already have new vanities and you are just looking for some eco-friendly accessories to incorporate into your bathroom, go for bamboo shower stools, mats, or laundry baskets. The possibilities are endless.
Wisely Chosen Plants
Last year it seemed that everyone was taking their gardens into their bathrooms. Don’t get me wrong, I’m all for bathroom greenery, but that doesn’t mean I’m about to adorn it with pots of roses and carnations. Plants for bathroom interiors should be able to flourish in moisture and absorb it. They can help with mold and take in mold spores from your stuffy bathroom air. They should be able to grow in shade, with weak natural light. If you like elegant and inconspicuous plants, go for orchids, just make sure to keep them away from drafts. if you are looking for something lush and bushy, go for any type of fern or pothos. If your bathroom is moldy you should opt for tillandsia, aloe vera or previously praised bamboo.
Creating environmentally friendly spaces and going for organic and sustainable materials isn’t just doing good for the planet. It is revolutionizing the elegance itself, making all of those sleek and shiny lines characteristical for every bathroom design, fit with this new and sustainable concept. Let’s make 2024 terrific by making it all about that slow, but important transformation.
