Small Changes, Big Impact: Your Mid-Summer Home Refresh
(5 min read) We are in the middle of our summer journey, and it’s the perfect time to make some small updates here and there to make the rest of this scorching vacay season more enjoyable and fabulous. Breathing fresh air into our interiors with a few minor design and decor changes won’t require much effort on your part, but it can make a big impact on the overall look and atmosphere of your living space for the rest of the summer.

If your space hasn’t been through a full-scale renovation in a long while, and you’ve done the usual summer linen-swap and flower introduction, but it still looks kinda boring, it is time for a mid-summer update. We’ve compiled the easiest and most budget-friendly interior tips to make your space pop in no time this summer.

Just add citrus
Every summer, color trends lean towards bright and fresh palettes, so you probably already have these in your home. After a while, anything, regardless of its initial appeal, will start to look old and boring (just ask Leonardo DiCaprio). However, that doesn’t mean that you have to change the whole thing (on second thought, don’t ask Leonardo DiCaprio). All your interior needs is a splash of citrus to make it look new and amazing again. Zesty lemon yellow, flirty soft tangerine, or in-your-face lime green will do the trick. Add them through accent pillows, art prints, vases, or literally anything else. You can’t go wrong.

Playful summer decor
But we’re not talking about one or two tastefully placed shell-shaped ceramics. We are talking about anything and everything that looks summery, scattered throughout your home in the most eye-catching places. So think colored glassware, woven baskets, vibrant mosaic trinkets, and hand-painted vases. Pieces like these won’t just decorate your space; they will also tell a summer story of their own. The best thing is, once the summer is over, you can store them away until the next summer, because they never go out of style, and they fit virtually any trend, because they are simply a part of the seasonal decor.

Bring the outdoors in, or switch it up
We’ve already talked about bringing nature into your home, as biophilic design has been all the rage for a while now. Most of you probably already have a plant or two in your home. However, switching it up mid-summer will do miracles for refreshing your space if you were thinking about adding that huge monstera to your array of greenery; go for it. If you’ve been eyeing that cute little succulent in your local flower shop, now is the perfect time to buy it. If your green thumb has already gone wild in your home, then rotate your plants, do a bit of pruning, and repot them. Any green-related update will do the trick.

Mood-boost wall
Yes, you’ve read that right. If you are not up for repainting a whole room in this heat, just a single wall will do it. This summer is all about vibrant, but earthy tones. Just one wall painted in clay orange, turmeric yellow, or ocean blue will instantly refresh your whole home and elevate your mood. If you aren’t ready to commit to the whole painting shabang, you can always go for a peel-and-stick wallpaper. Just a single wall with vibrant abstract or botanical patterns will make your home look brand new.

Switch up your lighting
Summer is all about the long, sunshiny days, so it is easy to forget how much the indoor light influences mood. Lighting is not just about the function, but also about ambiance. Softly curved modular fixtures you can move around are a minor investment that will both refresh and recondition your space. A fun bamboo lamp, a flashy sculptural floor light, or a simple set of string lights above your indoor plants will also elevate your space in an instant. Last, but not least, if your space is small and you already have enough lighting fixtures, just swap your light bulbs for some warmer white ones. Your interior will immediately look softer and more appealing.

Updating your interior mid-summer doesn’t have to be a budget-breaking endeavor of epic proportions. Sometimes, a few minor strategic changes are enough to capture the joy and brightness of the summer season.
