4 Creative Ways To Decorate Your Home Interiors This Summer

(3 min read) The summer months are upon us, and the warm weather is an excellent time to relax and laze indoors. With the change in season comes the need for a bit of a change in home accents. We’re big fans of mixing things up, and transitioning from one season to the next is a great way to do that.

Seeking inspiration from interior design elements, here are a few great ways to decorate your home. Your summer will be even more enjoyable with these home interior ideas.

One of the most effective ways to add summer style to your home is to coordinate the colors you’ve chosen for your decor. Choose shades that work together. Take a color palette from a vibrant print design and match the colors. Whatever color scheme you choose for the rest of your home is alright, as long as it complements your wall colors.

Summer is also all about the opportunity to create space and light in your home. Now is the time to swap heavy drapes for airy and breezy curtains. Scented candles also work wonders — stick to natural waxes and look for scents that match the casual feel you’re trying to achieve.

Another way to take your interiors up a notch is through patterns. Prints such as sailor stripes, lush leaves, quirky sea creatures, or luscious fruit are excellent choices. They add a bit of fun and playfulness to your home.

The warm weather lends itself to the softness of interior design, of being surrounded in relaxed comfort. Accents in the form of feathery and cool textures add to this sense of comfort. Nothing too rough, heavy, or warm to the touch. The effect that soft surfaces have on your interior design is an easygoing, welcoming, and soothing atmosphere.

In the summer months, I love to take advantage of the extended daylight hours by allowing more natural light into my residence. It brightens the rooms and invokes such an inviting ambiance. The addition of the natural light from outside also provides the illusion that the residence is bigger. Great tips.

We have been embracing the natural light, but I fear everything will become too dark when it hits wintertime.

I’ve actually been changing out a few small things… a rug here, a pillow there… to make my house more light and colorful! It’s amazing what a small change can do for a room.

I’m back. Just showing my SIL the patterns in that photo towards the end. She has a southwest feel in her design at her home but wants to switch to more reddish brown that what she has now.
