Make Your Traditional Interior Fit 2024 Vibes
(5 min read) Traditional interior design is a very general term, but you know it when you see it. When you walk into a room and it feels classic, comfy, and timeless, chances are it’s traditional. Adding a twist to such space, but remaining in the confines of its cozy familiarity can be tricky. Luckily for you, we are full of ideas.

Traditional interior design tends to sound almost boring when you say it out loud doesn’t it? However, it wasn’t always like that. Living in this progressive day and age with its many styles and tech innovations certainly contributed to that. It’s sort of like the rise of Harry Styles made the rest of the music scene look bland, or like the popularity of 50 Shades of Grey made vanilla sex sounds boring. It just happened and now we’re all living the fun consequences of those things.

Green living
If your home is decorated in the spirit of traditional aesthetics, you probably already have some greenery here and there. 2024 is all about green living, so start thinking bigger when it comes to your plants. Get yourself a huge Adam plant, or a thick bushy fern, or better yet, get both. Those huge plants require large pots to stand in, and that’s a whole new playground on its own. Since 2024 is also all about those bold colors you can have some fun adding vibrant pots to your space. Opt for something strong like lime green or fuschia, or take an artsy route and go for multi-colored mosaic artwork for your planters. As long as you choose something that visually breaks the subtle stillness of your traditional style, you can’t go wrong.

A single statement piece
If your home is traditional and you are trying to make it 2024 fab, then you are in luck when it comes to furniture. You can keep all of your carved wood pieces, matching nightstands, and chests of drawers, simply because dark wood, and environmentally friendly, earthy tones are all the rage in 2024. However, customization and eclecticism are also in, so pick a single outrageous piece of furniture to give your space some bass. (omg, who am I? Eminem?) Go for a fun-looking performance fabric for your loveseat, or reupholster your bergere chair and turn it into a colorful patchwork. Just one outside-the-box piece will do the trick.

Quiet luxury
This year is also the year of the cozy, subtle luxury, and although traditional style is subtle and quiet on its own, it just seemingly fits into this narrative. Most traditional homes are already rich with wood and shiny brass, but making them luxurious in 2024 requires a certain modern twist. You can go for some prominent, spacey round fixtures to oppose the straight and serious line of your furniture, or add a a concave mirror to your wall. A single modern luxurious addition will do miracles for making your space look up to date.

Mural art
Modernizing your traditionally stylized interior with art doesn’t have to be as complicated as it sounds. This year stunning murals in surprising places are very much in trend, and it is quite easy to make this work to your advantage. Mosaic murals are sort of surprising on their own, as the sheer intricacy of the tiny tiles makes them eye-catching and beautiful. Go for a mosaic mural rich with color and place it on whichever wall you want, you can’t do no wrong here.

Smart moves
Smart technology is most definitely here to stay and design styles are twisting and turning to accommodate it. Traditional design might not have worked with techy features in the past, but technology has evolved and become stylish and easy to work with. You can make your traditional home look trendy with a few simple “smart” items. For example, lose your heavy curtains and add smart glass foil to your windows. That will make your interior look more spacious and modern. Don’t hide your Alexa speaker. put it on a prominent spot in or make it a single item on your ornate wooden club table. It will look interesting and stylish. don’t try to blend your techy additions into your design style, we are long past the time when that was considered classy.

In terms of interior design styles, traditional is considered vanilla, and if you want to add some strawberry and Malaga flavor there, no one’s going to judge you. The trick is in doing it and not losing all of that vanilla goodness you fell in love with in the first place. *wink wink
