Top Interior Design Trends to Watch This Summer

(4 min read) Summer is here, and just like your wardrobe needs a seasonal update, so does your home interior. As we slowly dive into the hottest (pun intended) months of the year, interior design trends are making a noticeable shift toward a frisky blend of natural elements, nostalgic allure, and daring experimentation. Whether you are planning a full renovation or just want to revamp a part of your living space, these summer design trends will help you do it stylishly.

We call this interior design style “Summer is here!”.

1. Coastal Grandma goes to Coachella

Yep, you read that right. Remember last year’s hit, the “coastal grandma” aesthetic? Well, this year, it’s not just a trend any longer. It has officially evolved into a subgenre of minimalist design. Think of all of the neutral tones, soft linen textures, and washed driftwood characteristic of last summer’s “grandma”. Now, imagine that grandma is headed to Coachella, so she puts on some crazy brass jewelry, fabulous jute platforms, and a random fuchsia straw hat. Done? And those are the exact vibes that are all the rage this summer. Pastelle, organic, with in-your-face splashes of color.

Don’t forget to add stripes and some brass accents! Grandma is going to Coachella after all!

2. Biophilic overload

Indoor plants have seamlessly upgraded themselves from accessory to necessity. Now that nature is already integrated into your home, and your space already features green here and there, it’s time to elevate it. Organic materials, like bamboo, rattan, stone, glass, and reclaimed wood, should be your focus this summer if you are taking the biophilic route. Moss walls, glass mosaic art, potted trees, and indoor vertical gardens will be taking the spotlight. Bonus points if you have large windows to let in plenty of sunshine and fresh air.

Good old boho chic with some much-needed biophilic vibes.

3. Nostalgia, but without the longing

This season, interior design is channeling the comfort and the appeal of a 1970s summer holiday, but without all of the tacky polyester. Interesting retro patterns like waves, checkers, and stripes are making a bold comeback to the design scene. From geometrical lines and rattan furniture, to vintage thrift finds upcycled to statement pieces, this summer nostalgia will be ruling over the interiors of many homes. So, if you go for this particular trend, and your interior ends up looking like something you’ve seen on Charlie’s Angels, then you are on the right track.

Charlie’s Angels vibes galore!

4. Soft and curvy

Yes, you’ve read that right. Soft and curvy is here to stay in all aspects of life. Comfort with a capital “C”. Go for furnishings with inviting silhouettes and soft edges. Cozy chairs with curved backs, kidney-shaped club tables, and low-slung sofas will bring all the vibes this summer. Anything that will create a loungey atmosphere, perfect for long summer evenings, is welcome. Tactile fabrics such as washed linen, boucle, and velvet will also bring you some bonus points because they will maintain the snug feel without making your furniture appear overbearing.

Implement soft curves into your space, and let the magic unfold!

5. Sculptural lighting fixtures and statement mirrors

This summer, mirrors and lighting are playing multiple roles. Gone are the days of basic, utilitarian functions. Now it’s all about practicality and art moulded in one. Choose arched floor lamps, mushroom-shaped table lamps, and eclectic wall scones. Basically, if the lighting looks like it belongs in an art gallery, it is exactly what your interior needs. In addition to that, irregular, weirdly-shaped mirrors are stealing the show this summer too. Once strategically placed, these stunning mirrors will bounce the light around your interior, adding some pzazz and animation to your space.

Some trendy twists and this industrial style-designed living room is summer-ready!

Summer interior trends of 2025 are all about good vibes, organic feels, and originality. Whether you decide to opt for retro revival or allow your inner botanist to run rampant, keep one thing on your mind: your home is your sanctuary. And even if you go crazy with decorating here and there, it will be your kind of crazy, so chill.*wink wink

I love the trend toward soft and curvy. That’s my favorite. I don’t like angular or cold interiors.

Loving all these options, my eyes were fixed on the spiral staircase and thinking how impractical that would be for me. As I managed to fall and break a toes from ours and they are straight
