2022 Mosaic art and interior design trends
(5 min read) Let’s say that the most notable interior designers in the world meet every year for their very own Bilderberg meeting. Just instead of chatting about how to enslave us, they discuss what trends will be popular next year. So last year they’ve decided that Scandinavian decor and Boho-chic were all the rage and mosaic art just magically worked with it and sold like crazy. This year’s Natural look with lots of earthy elements was popular and once again mosaic art fit right in and sold like crazy. In 2023 they might decide that Rustic tractor equipment interior and puke color are it trend and mosaic art will follow and adapt. In the year 2345 they may decide that Unicorns and Space shuttle interior design style combo are cool and mosaic art will go with it… Do you catch my drift? It’s so good that it will never stop being cool.

This year we can expect a couple of pretty distinctive trends to take the scene, as well as some recurrent ones we don’t want to get rid of just yet.

Landscape pallets
The natural vibe will stay popular throughout 2022 and mosaic artwork with lots of earthy hues and green features will be there to follow. From countryside scenery and up-close jungle bushes of greenery, mosaic artwork that deals with nature and its many faces will be a hit in 2022. Go with statement-making floral mosaic artworks in your entryways and living rooms or forest scenes on your mosaic backsplashes. Forest scenes and cottage vibes on your mosaic art are also the way to go if you are up for this marvelous aesthetic.

Sustainability
Sustainability has truly become an important part of our everyday lives and culture. Because we’ve JUST realized, after hundreds of years of doing it, that we are ruining the planet Earth. Yeah. We’re bright like that… These days we are adamant about fixing that mistake or at least lessening the awful things we do to mother nature every day. On that note, there is not a single art form more sustainable than the mosaic. Stone, glass, marble, you name it. Every material we use is sustainable and durable. So this will truly be the year of naturally made mosaic art. In that sense, the contrast will be very popular because you’ll want to mark that departure from an egotistical urban diesel-fueled chick to a more zen and caring approach. So glass mosaic artwork of city scenery, marble mosaic art depictions of crowded streets, etc.

Amalfi Cathedral Tower and the bustling city surrounding it by Angelo Fabbri is the way to go if you want to point out your attitude about the importance of sustainability; nothing speaks sustainable quite like the city scene handmade of natural high-quality glass
Geometric grid
Considering what the world is has been going through for a while now, it’s no wonder that the expanse of the metaverse is on its rise. Needless to say, one of the major trends this year will most definitely be the sci-fi style. Now take that with the grain of salt, because I don’t think you should get yourself a robotic dog or hang out with Siri and Alexa every day. That simply means that a large portion of trendy interiors will reflect the adventures of the digital age we’re in, and that goes for mosaic art too. Geometric patterns and sharp abstract mosaic artwork will emit the scientific vibe nicely while adding some warmth to the process.

Stoner aesthetic
Just so we’re clear — you don’t have to be an actual stoner to like this narrative. This is simply a sub-style of nomadic or boho I think. Contrary to popular opinion, it doesn’t have to involve mosaic artwork depicting cannabis leaves and homemade water pipes. You can do that with table decor, throw blankets, and Bob Marley records. Your mosaic art should just be ephemeral and dreamy, and that will do the trick. Think subtle mosaic art patterns, scenes or portraits, gentle colors on abstract mosaic artworks, and wavy pastel artworks with a pop of color here and there.

It’s That 70’s show again
Yasss, 70’s are back baby. And I’m not talking Ashton Kutcher dude-bro vibes I’m talking Lynyrd Skynyrd busting from the vintage record player, from your living room with wall to wall green carpets and heavy orange curtains, while you’re making Pina Coladas in your baby-pink kitchen. Uh, I forgot that awesome eye-searingly colorful mosaic art masterpiece on your feature wall! Needless to say, if you are about to go full-on 70’s mode bright and brave, strongly colored mosaic artwork is a must!
