The Masquerade Mask Mosaic Design is a handmade mosaic mural inspired by the centuries-old tradition of Venetian masquerade masks. Created by mosaicist Angelo Fabbri, the artwork is composed of 15,000 tiles and transforms the theatrical character of a masquerade mask into a detailed mosaic.
The standard artwork measures 35 W × 59 H inches (89 W × 150 H cm) and is available in multiple sizes, including custom proportions. Designed for interior spaces such as offices, bedrooms, living rooms, dining rooms, and retail environments, the mosaic can also be customized in size, color, and shape.
Materials and Craft
The Masquerade Mask Mosaic Design is handmade from high-quality tesserae. The artwork contains 15,000 individual tiles and is crafted on a mesh support, allowing the mosaic to be handled as a flexible artwork during installation.
The mosaic has a thickness of 0.20 inches and a listed weight of 53 kg at the standard 35 W × 59 H inches (89 W × 150 H cm) size.
Three finish options are available. The Natural finish uses authentic marble tiles without treatment. The Polished finish creates a glossy, smooth surface that brings out the subtleties and colors of the natural stone. The Tumbled finish uses a distressing process on the edges and surface of the stone to create an antique, aged appearance.
The tiles are hand-cut by the artists. Because of this process, individual mosaics may have slight variations in the color and cut of the tiles rather than being exact replicas of the displayed image.
Design Details
The design takes its subject from the masquerade masks associated with Venice, bringing a recognizable theatrical motif into a contemporary mosaic format. The mask provides the central visual focus, while thousands of individually cut tiles build the image through variations in color, cut, and placement.
The Venetian reference gives the artwork a strong decorative and cultural character without relying on a printed or photographic surface. Instead, the image is constructed entirely through the arrangement of tesserae pieces.
As a handmade mosaic, the artwork combines figurative imagery with the visual texture of natural stone. The result is a wall mural that can function as a focal artwork in both residential and commercial interiors.

Installation
You are 6 simple steps away to completely transforming your space:
Step 1. Gently open your package and unravel your mosaic. The mosaic is mounted on a fiber mesh backing and wrapped with a protective film from the reverse. Gently remove the protective film without damaging the mesh and remove any excess glue. Should individual stones have become loose during shipment, glue them back using a solvent-based adhesive.
Step 2. Using your trowel, spread a thin layer of adhesive or white thin-set mortar across the surface you wish to tile. If you’re placing your mosaic on a vertical wall or ceiling, you can always glue it to a wooden board and secure the board to the wall. In the case of large wall installations, nailing little nails into the gaps between the stones for a stronger seal is recommended. If the mosaic is to be laid in a humid or wet room, the laying area must be made waterproof. A special sealing adhesive should be used.
Step 3. Gently place the mosaic and use the flat end of the grout float to ensure the mosaic is perfectly flat and well adhered to the surface. Remove any excess of mortar with a damp cloth.
Step 4. Wait for at least 24 hours for the mortar to dry out. Once the mortar is dry, moisten the tiles using a damp sponge, spread your desired grout to fill the spaces between tiles using your grout float. Wipe down any excess grout, first with a dry towel, then a wet one. (Before applying the grout, make sure to glue back in place any fallen stone using a solvent-based adhesive)
Step 5. Once dry (will take approximately 24 hours), apply a marble and stone sealer.
