(4 min read)<\/strong> 2022 is over and we\u2019ve already recapped our favorites of designed trends that graced our interiors throughout the year. Now it is time for us to do the same, but with our least favorite ones. Whether we want to admit it or not, there have been some true misses, to say the least. To be honest, we saw some truly hideous trends in 2022, so let\u2019s hope this article serves as a farewell to them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Glitz, glam, and gag<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

People always wish to create that upscale feeling, so luxurious fabrics and glittering accessories are always in demand. However, this year a huge number of interiors were covered in ornate, shiny, and reflective surfaces. It was like the Kardashians came in and barfed their sense of style everywhere. Clearly, not everything jam-packed with glitter looks glamorous. In fact, nothing does.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Brown isn\u2019t just earthy\u2026<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Regardless of this ongoing trend of natural vibes and Biophilic design, brown has managed to overdo it, or rather we\u2019ve managed to overdo it. It seems that there is an excess of brown in a large number of interiors these days, which doesn\u2019t come as a surprise keeping in mind how difficult it is to work with it. Brown is a slow and painful death for small spaces, as it needs a lot of opposites to make it look appealing, which is particularly difficult to achieve in a small room. Brown also absorbs the light, so it will make your space appear darker and moodier. Some say it also ruins marriages and eats small children, so be very careful with it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boucle-mania<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ahhh, boucle\u2026I actually love boucle, but too much is too much! Boucle is a heavy material that is made of looped yarn. It is a very particular (to say the least) fabric and it doesn\u2019t do any favors to the rest of the furniture if it gets overused. Which it did. Plenty. It seemed that everywhere you look there was a boucle cover, cushion, or upholstery. It seemed that the boucle was about to eat every single space it entered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cowhide prints<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

See I tried to make that subtitle into a pun or joke or something, but that would be so unnecessary because the joke is already there. Cowhide prints\u200a\u2014\u200athere, that\u2019s the joke. I always found the trend disturbing. I mean, why would you want the skin of any animal in your home? But, hey. That\u2019s probably just the animal lover in me talking. However, as popular as this trend has become over the years it seems that it was overused to a cliche this year. In my book, this is one of the worst trends of all time. It\u2019s up there right next to neon plastic furniture and carpeted bathrooms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tile countertops<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Seriously, though, who thought that bringing this one back was a good idea? This particular trend had its heyday in the 70s for a reason and it should have stayed there. Instead, someone decided to make it a thing yet again! I guess people find cleaning the grout lines soothing or something. I can understand wanting to salvage a piece of furniture or being nostalgic and wanting to show it, but I really can\u2019t understand why anyone would want to revive such a bad trend. Leave tiles where they should be. On your floor and mosaic backsplashes. Countertops are what granite and quartz are for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

So those are some of the awful trends we had to deal with this year. All in all, it\u2019s been a pretty good year for interior design. we had more good than bad design and decor solutions and let\u2019s hope that that particular trend will keep up in 2023 too. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
