(3 min read)

Innovation, creativity, trends within interior design both for homes and public places – these are but a few reasons why more than 400.000 visitors from all over the world attend the Stockholm Furniture and Light Fair every year. This year was not an exception and the leading event for Scandinavian design along with the Stockholm Design week concluded a few days ago leaving behind a lot of upcoming trends and ideas for 2018.

Here are some of the amazing ideas that caught our attention this year which you might not want to miss:

1. Paola Navone’s unique “Tham Ma Da” installation at the entrance hall of the fair greeted the visitors with its heart-warming colors. Italian design icon, who was the guest of honor, showed her gift for mixing textures, colors, unexpected objects and as she explains – making something spectacular of very simple things that surround us every day, simply put – ordinary into extraordinary.

2. With the brand’s playfulness and attention to detail, Muuto introduced a new chaise longue version of its Outline Sofa with mind-calming interior colors.

3. Foscarini’s award-winning Filo Lamp was another creative standout shown in an installation at the Italian Embassy designed by Andrea Anastasio. Filo’s main characteristic success is the decision to have decorations play an essential role, incorporating elements that are not normally considered as decorative.

For the ones who always wanted to enjoy their morning coffee next to a mini-jungle or simply display their beautiful monsteras in a different way, Johan Kauppi launched minimalist wooden illuminated frame that turns your plant into an art and makes them grow and prosper with its delicate LED line.

Always remember that the things you are surrounded with have a huge influence on your mood, well-being, and productivity. So, when choosing an interior design get as creative as it could be. Decorate your walls with large photographs, paintings or mosaic artworks and make sure to always use what you love and what makes you feel good. Never set limits and as Paola Navone likes to do – turn anything ordinary into something special.
